Chat Octopus replaces the timeline with a conversation. Upload your footage and describe what the finished video should look like. "Cut the intro down to 5 seconds." "Add a crossfade between these two clips." "Speed up the b-roll to 2x and add a lofi music bed." Each instruction applies to the video, and you see the result.

Make changes iteratively. "Actually, make that transition a hard cut instead." "Move the title card to the 3-second mark." "Export at 1080p." You build the edit through back-and-forth, the same way you would direct a human editor.

It also changes what is in the shot, not just which parts survive. "Remove the bin by the door." "Make it look like golden hour." "Swap the background for a plain wall." That used to mean rotoscoping or a reshoot; here it is a sentence, and the clip comes back rewritten. It works on short pieces, up to ten seconds at a time, so trim to the moment you care about first: it is priced by the second of footage you send, and the rewritten clip is newly rendered rather than your original frames. Cuts and trims are the cheap path and leave your footage untouched, so reach for a transform only when the picture itself has to change.

Every export is a standard H.264 MP4, rendered clean: even a straight cut is re-encoded so the joins do not pop and mixed sources match. We never stamp a logo on it. The file is ready to publish.
